Student Spotlight: 秋天——’23 (Biology)

“I feel that I have a better sense of who I am and who I want to be thanks to my time at Roberts.”

秋天—— is a wonderful example of academic, 精神上的, and extracurricular excellence at Roberts. She is the Student Body President for the academic year 2022-23, the co-founder of the Medical Club, and the captain of the Junior Varsity women’s soccer team.

What’s one of your favorite memories as the JVW Soccer Captain?

This will be my fourth year playing on the JV Women’s soccer team at Roberts, and I’m so grateful for the memories and the amazing people that I have met.

Some of my favorite memories are the team bonding spaghetti dinners, 早餐, 还有电影之夜, or when my dad drove from my home state New Hampshire to surprise me at my very first Roberts soccer game!

What’s it like being the Student Body President?

So far, my experience serving as the Student Body President has been extremely rewarding.

One of my favorite things so far was training week in August with my 2022-2023 盐 team and running different events for New Student Orientation. It was busy and a lot of work, but I’m so proud of my team’s adaptability and work ethic.

I’m very excited to serve as a voice for the student body and collaborate with other student leaders and administration to help make this year at Roberts the best one yet!

What do you see yourself doing as a career?

After graduating from Roberts, I will be applying to different programs to become a Physician Assistant (PA). My goal is to specialize in cardiothoracic surgery.

How will your Roberts education help you reach those goals?

在过去的四年里, I have been able to cultivate meaningful relationships with my peers and my professors which has deeply impacted my passion for learning and becoming a PA.

I think that the unique opportunities to connect personally with both students and staff have not only allowed me to grow more in my knowledge of science but also my passion for servant leadership in my future profession.

How has Roberts impacted your 精神上的 journey?

Being surrounded by people that encourage and walk with me in my faith has helped me grow. I have learned so much about myself, about God, and about how to form Godly relationships.

I feel that I have a better sense of who I am and who I want to be, thanks to my time at Roberts.

What is the best thing about studying your major?

I don’t want to speak for everyone, but I believe there is a general consensus that biology is a difficult subject to study. The challenges of my major actually allowed me to develop long-lasting friendships as my friends and I helped each other through the late nights studying, 发泄对学校的不满, stress-snacking, 分享学习心得, 等.

最重要的是, I love my major because I’m just a major science nerd in general and love learning about God’s creations.

Who is your favorite professor and what’s one way they’ve helped you?

瑞秋·格雷厄姆! Her excitement about science is contagious. She gave me my passion for microbiology and taught me to never stop learning.

What is your favorite thing about Rochester?

I love visiting the public market, cute cafes like Java的 or 博尔德咖啡公司., and the different shops and restaurants on Park Ave!
